L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Lipstick (30th anniversary shades) review and swatches

One of the iconic products in the L’Oréal makeup range- the Color Riche Lipsticks recently celebrated it’s 30th birthday!  And L’Oréal released a collection of beautiful new shades ranging from muted nude to a dark vampy purple.

At AED79, L’Oréal Color Riche is quite expensive than your average drugstore lipstick.  However,  it does look more luxurious than most other lipstick brands in the market.   The sturdy, frosted gold case and the L’Oréal stamp on the lipstick adds a nice touch.

I was sent 4 shades from their new collection – Carmin St Germain (a creamy blue based red that makes my teeth look whiter),  Fuchsia Declaration (a pink based mauve with a beautiful shimmer),  Nuit Blanche (a creamy taupe nude) and Ouhlala (a bright fuchsia with a matte finish).

The formula of these lipsticks are lovely and moisturising.  I have naturally dry lips that are prone to flaking and thankfully these did not dry them out. The texture is very light and feels more like a lip balm.

The formula of the matte lipstick is smooth and quite comfortable on the lips.   But if you do have dry lips like mine,  I would suggest that you use a lip balm like Labello Milk & Honey which is very moisturizing but doesn’t leave lips shiny(so that it won’t interfere with the lipsticks matte finish) .

As you can see below,  the colour pay-off is excellent ! There are some vibrant shades in the matte collection (including a very wearable bright Tangerine !).  The cream finish lipsticks are very, very creamy and the matte ones feels very velvety.  Since both formulas are quite slippery, there is a risk of color bleed, so it’s best worn with a lip liner.

The lasting power is around 4-5 hours (depending on what you eat or drink) and the darker shades do leave a light stain on my lips.

I have fallen in love with these and there are two more shades that I really want to try – Oud Obsession (a gloriously creamy milk chocolate shade) and Preliminaire (a beautiful, deep plum shade that’s very Winter appropriate).

Have you tried Color Riche Lipsticks?  What are your favorite shades?

Thank you so much for reading and have a lovely weekend!

      1. I’m in the same situation, otherwise I’d go grab one the first chance I could get. 🙂 You’re welcome, it was an enjoyable read!
