About me

Sachini Gamage Dubai Blogger
Hi there ! That’s me, looking very happy with that huge IKEA breakfast 🙂

Hello there ! How did you wander in to my little blog ? Never mind how , I’m so glad you’re here 😀  I hope you enjoyed reading my posts and if you are curious about learning  a little about me read on…

I am a quiet,  introverted Sri Lankan living in Dubai with my husband.  He was my Prince Charming who I met 15 years ago and was my saviour when I fell very ill due to a brain tumor.  He took care of me throughout that time and even though I was so over-weight and my face was full of huge cystic acne,  he made me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world.  Any one who has had acne knows how much it affects your self -esteem and I was down in the dumps always but his support saved me.   He always told me that I was the only woman in the world for him and that he was blind to the beauty of others 🙂  So when he got a job in Dubai, though it was hard,  I left my family,  friends and a well paying job to be with him ❤

I was a banker back in Sri Lanka but now I am stay at home wife.   This blog was born out my love for all things beauty and my love for writing.  I have loved writing since I was little and English Literature was my favorite subject in school.   What ever I feel,  I write it down and I find it eases my heart and makes me feel good.

I am a voracious reader and my main love is murder mysteries.  Agatha Christie,  Ruth Rendell and P.D. James are among my favourites authors.   I have the same taste in TV shows – Inspector Morse,  Bones,  Supernatural are a few of my favorite programmes.   And I am a huge Star Wars and X files geek.  I think I know all the episode’s by heart ( sad but true – that’s what happens when you are a introvert :))

The name of the blog comes from my uncontrollable curly hair which either people love or hate ! Back home people have a fascination with stick straight hair so they hate curly hair with a passion ! I was bullied a lot at school because my hair was different and there was a time when I hated my hair. But now I’ve grown to accept my hair and I love it. I hate cutting my hair and now it’s grown quite long..

As I mentioned above I was diagnosed with a brain tumor sometime ago and have been suffering some serious consequences since then, adult acne being one side effect. You might see a lot of posts relating my struggle because of that so please pardon me 😃. I have quite a lot of acne scars on my face and I hate wearing layer upon layer of makeup trying to cover them up. I have come to accept that no amount of foundation/concealer will ever cover them. So now, I believe in good skincare habits and prefer natural makeup.

Most of my reviews will be on products/services that I have used/experienced but there might be one or two sneaky posts on shopping too.

I am kind of a klutz when it comes to makeup (my way of contouring is suckling my cheeks in 😀) so you won’t see any tutorials on my posts. As I said before I prefer very natural makeup.

If you have any questions relating to any of my posts please do not hesitate to ask and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge ..

  4. It’s like I’m meeting you properly for the first time ever. Even though we’ve ‘spoken’ for months, I am so chuffed to finally read this (I’m so lazy, I didn’t bother to see your site on the desktop all these days!)
I can’t believe you are 34…hun…you do not look 34 and I am jealous! 😉 I am sorry to hear that you’ve been through such a huge ordeal and admire you for being so frank and honest about how you’re dealing with it. You’re truly inspiring. Never ever change your hair…I’m so jealous of it, whatever everyone else thinks.
Sending you love from London as always…
