I have been cheating on my Proactive cleanser with another wash and scrub from Neutrogena.
Some months back I ran out of my Neutrogena Oil free acne wash (the pink version with grapefruit) and it was out of stock every where. The Visibly Clear Pore & Shine daily wash to was on offer and since I was already using a moisturiser from the Visibly Clear range (click here), I bought it.
I was using the wash for the past two months and really liked the results. Then by a happy coincidence, the scrub from the same range was sent for me to review. Used together, these two have been keeping my skin clear and has allowed me to limit my Proactive usage to twice a week.
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine Daily wash
The Clear & Pore range is targeted at people with oily / combination skin and promises to mattify the skin while keeping your pores clear.
The first thing about this cleanser is that it smells amazing (the zingy scent of sun ripened tangerines ). Fans of the Neutrogena Grapefruit acne wash take note, this smells even better ! The scent is a great at waking me up on sleepy mornings.
The cleanser is very foamy and washes off quickly without any residue. And unlike some cleansers formulated for oily skin, it does not leave my face with that tight, stretched out feeling.
My face looks quite bright after I use this maybe due to the skin brightening properties of tangerine & lime ? As someone who has very oily skin I can say that the wash does a great job of clearing away the excess oils and mattifying the skin.
This works best when followed up with a mattifying moisturiser or a serum. I use either the Neutrogena Visibly Clear oil free moisturiser or Orlane Hydro Matifying care.
While this does contain Salicylic acid, it has to be a lesser percentage than the 2% in the Neutrogena oil free acne wash (it’s listed second to last in the ingredient list). The strange thing is, this seems to work better than the acne wash. Maybe the lower concentration of Salicylic acid is less irritating ?
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine Daily Scrub
This creamy, light green scrub has tiny micro-beads that exfoliate the skin but does not foam up like the wash. It has the same gorgeous, lime scent as the face wash and is very gentle on the skin. As stated it does seem to leave my pores looking smaller (even if it’s only for a little while). I only use the scrub 2-3 times a week as over scrubbing irritates my skin.
I know Neutrogena is phasing out products containing micro beads in some countries (micro-beads are not nature friendly, so they are being banned) but not sure if that will happen in the Middle East.
It’s the height of summer here in Dubai and these two have done a good job of cleansing the sweat and the grime off my face. My skin goes crazy during summer and I breakout like crazy but for the past few months my skin has been clear.I guess the combination of these two with the Proactive system must be working.
A little tip – if you have bacne or chest acne, you can use either of these as a body wash. I use the wash that way and I love it more than my regular body washes. The scent is so fantastic that I wish this came in a giant size !
For all those oily/ combination skinned people out there, this pair would make a great cleansing duo for summer.
Do you have a favorite Neutrogena cleanser ? What was your experience like ?
As always, thank you so much for reading !

*The wash and the scrub both cost around 45AED and is available in all major supermarkets & pharmacies in U.A.E.
*I checked the Neutrogena US website but couldn’t find this range. I guess this is made for Middle East ? If this is available in any other countries, do let me know.

My favorite Neutragena wash is the Natural facial cleanser. It does a great job of removing makeup with much more gentle ingredients than most other cleansers. I have not heard of this line but it sounds really nice. I agree with the other comments about your pictures as well; very nice!

I’ve seen that range online (and it has very good reviews too) but it’s not available here. There’s only a very limited collection available here. I have no idea why 😦 boo
Thank you so much 😀
