A Summer Favourite – Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturiser

Summer in Dubai can be very deceptive, every where you go the air conditioning is cranked up to the maximum so you are left blissfully unaware how scorching hot outside really is. But the moment you step outside, the heat starts boiling you slowly from inside (the heat can go up to 55C ). Makeup, moisturiser what ever you wear will be melted off in minutes. I found this the hard way one day when my makeup vanished (just primer and BB cream) in the few minutes between me leaving my apartment and waiting for a taxi.

Now, if I am spending any time outdoors I just wear a very light moisturiser and a sunscreen and maybe just a light dusting of powder. And Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturiser is one I reach a lot during summer.

I had acne since I was a teenager and Neutrogena is one brand I used a lot since then (they seem to work on me from time to time). There are a few life long favorites among them like their Oil Free Acne Wash, Ultra Sheer Sunscreen and this moisturiser.

This is a gel based moisturiser that absorbs in seconds and leaves my face completely matte. It also gives a tingling, cooling feeling to the skin (quite similar to the feel of Neutrogena Deep Clean range) – maybe because of the 2% Salicylic Acid it contains ?

This has a healing effect on minor blemishes but not so much on cystic acne. The great thing about this moisturiser is that it helps fade old acne marks (though quite slowly).

The only drawback (other than the lack of sun protection) is that the combination of this lotion with Proactive can be very drying if used dailyΒ  (I have very oily skin ).Β  Dry skinned girls beware, this is not for you.

I don’t wear it daily and only use it on days when I am planning to be outside for a long time (always with a sunscreen on top of it). Or sometimes I mix a bit of my foundation and wear it like a tinted moisturiser. I love the fact that it contains Salicylic Acid which helps keep my skin clear despite the sweltering weather.

I would say this is a great moisturiser to use during summer for all those oily skinned people out there. The 50ml tube retails for 42AED and is available in all major supermarkets.

I would love to know if you change your skin care routine during the summer ? Or do you stick to what works for you ?

Thanks a lot for reading, please do like and comment if you enjoyed this post.

  1. Great review! I’m always looking for a good moisturiser especially for my oily/combo skin problems lol. I can only imagine how humid it’d be in Dubai! You go girl! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks for commenting 😊 The Salicylic Acid concentration in the Neutrogena one is stronger (2%). Which is fine if you have severe acne like me. The amount in the Clean and Clear moisturiser is not specified. So if you have sensitive skin it might be better for you.

    1. I am sorry to say that it has been discontinued here in the UAE. I met a few people from Neutrogena at a recent event and asked them why and they said they are planning to introduce more products but it’s taking some time to get permission from the government. You could try the moisturiser Yes to Tomatoes range (available at Hollend & Barrett stores) as an alternative.
