Balmy army – My Figs & Rouge lip balm collection and review

Figs & Rouge Lip Balms in Rambling Rose, Lemon Berry and Cherry Blossom
Figs & Rouge Lip Balms in Rambling Rose, Lemon Berry and Cherry Blossom

I love lip balms. Clear, tinted, shimmery in any form I adore them. I have quite dry lips and living in a desert country only exacerbates their condition. So always having a lip balm handy makes sense (I tend to have 2 or 3 in my bags always).

Figs & Rouge is a brand I discovered when I moved to Dubai and it has become one my favorite brands.  This British made brand offers a range of hand creams and a collection of 100% natural, petrolatum free lip balms. Recently, I was sent the Figs & Rouge Rambling Rose balm to review so I’ve decided to review it along with two other Figs & Rouge balms I use and love.

Figs & Rouge Rambling Rose Multipurpose Balm

The first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous, vintage style tin.  The solid balm has a subtle rose scent( but it’s so faint that people with sensitive noses won’t b bothered by it). The balm feels solid to touch so you need to rub the balm a bit so it warms and becomes emollient. It goes on clear and feels thick and comforting . It sort of sinks in to your lips/skin after a few minutes and leaves no sheen.  I have used lipstick and gloss over this and had no issues with greasy lips/lipstick bleeding etc.  This worked great as a night lip balm and left my lips plum and moisturised in the morning.

I am thinking of buying another so I can keep it stashed in my purse since this versatile balm can be used on your face, hands and body as well. I even use it to tame my very unruly eyebrows.

According to Marie Claire this is actress Emma Watson’s favorite lip balm (Emma Watson’s beauty secret revealed)

Figs & Rouge Lemon Berry Balm

This balm is also comes packaged in a beautiful bright yellow and pink tin. This is one of the few tinted lip balms Figs & Rouge offers and looks a deep berry in the tin. Sadly the tint is so faint it does not show up on my pigmented lips.  The balm has light, lemon scent and the texture is identical to the Rambling Rose balm.

* I tried to swatch the balm, but the colour is so faint that it does not show up.

Figs & Rouge Cherry Blossom Lip Balm

Another tinted balm from Figs & Rouge that comes packaged in a tube form. This pinkish balm has a very faint tint (same as the Lemon Berry balm) and leaves a slight sheen on the lips. The texture of the balm is much thinner than the other two balms and has a fruity scent.

These balms are a great option to try if you hate the feel of Vaseline on your lips and want to try a natural alternative. While Vaseline acts as a barrier on the lips these balms feel like they sink in and nourish them. You only need to use a small amount so one balm will last a long time .

Have you tried any of the balms from the Figs & Rouge range ? I would love to know what are your favorite lip balms are so please do leave a comment…
