Rimmel The Only One Lipstick – review & swatches

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick review and swatches

When Rimmel launched their “The Only 1” in the UK, I was pretty curious to try it.  Mainly because Rimmel promises that this multi-tasking lipstick is going to be the only lipstick you’ll ever need and be everything one wants from a lipstick!

There are 10 shades available in the Middle Eastern market and they come packaged in a sleek black tube with a slanted tip (similar to Revlon Lip Butter’s), so that you can easily apply it.  To see the full range of and swatches (click here).

There are some lovely shades in the range including a beautiful mauve nude (700 – Naughty Nude ) , a vampy deep plum (820-Oh So Wicked) and a muted dusty pink (200-It’s a Keeper) that would look lovely on all skin tones.  I was sent two shades 110- Pink A Punch (a bright Barbie pink) and 810 – One of A Kind (a reddish burgundy/wine).

The pigmentation and the Colour payoff of these lipsticks are truly amazing.  They glide across the lips very smoothly without any dragging or patchiness.  One swipe gives a beautiful pop of colour.  And a few more layers give a more intense,  opaque look.

I’ve tried most of the shades in-store and all of them seem to have a cream finish with a lovely sheen.  My lips have been so dry lately (thanks to the Dubai Winter) and these felt very moisturizing , almost like a lip balm.  The lasting power of these lipsticks is excellent.  They last around 5-6 hours and leaves behind a slight stain (the deeper the colour more intense the stain).

How the swatches appear after 5 hours

As with most Rimmel lipsticks, there’s a strong fruity scent, so be sure to give it a sniff before buying.

As I said before, these have a slight sheen (which lasts for around 2 hours on my lips).  So if you prefer your lip colour matte, just blot your lips using a facial tissue dusted with a little translucent powder.  The powder will take away the shine without muting the intensity of the colour.

Given the fact that Rimmel is a drugstore brand, the quality of these lipsticks are quite amazing.  And at AED47, it’s pretty affordable as well.  I know I’ll be picking out a few more of these the next time I visit Boots.

Have you tried these lipsticks ?  What’s your favorite shade ?

Thank you so much for reading and have a lovely Sunday !
