Figs are a summer staple in the Middle East and one of my favorite fruits ! The scent of a ripe, juicy fig is as unique as it’s taste (sweet but slightly tart).
And it’s the delicious aroma of sun ripened Puglia figs that inspired The Body Shop’s new fragrance from their Voyage collection – Italian Summer Fig.
Perfumers Arnaud Winter and Constance Georges Picot combined their love of figs with notes of grape leaf and crocus (top notes), Tuscan Rose (middle notes), Amber and Oak-wood (base notes).
A few weeks back, I got a chance to try out the new fragrances from the Voyage collection (click here to read about the event ) and this scent was one of my favorites (the other was Indian Night Jasmine). And to my great delight, I found that the perfume had been included in my press kit.
The perfume comes packaged in a box with a chic black and white print (inspired by Tuscan fabrics). The multi faceted glass bottle has a unique design that reflects the different time zones of the world (since the collection was inspired by scents all over the world).
The initial impression of Summer Fig is a very fresh and green scent. There’s almost a hint of sea breeze (the perfumers wanted to recreate the scent of fig trees misted by the ocean spray). The top notes lingers for a while and then dries down to a delicate woody musky scent. The lasing power is quite good for an eau de toilette – it lasts for 4-5 hours on me.
Italian Summer Fig is light, fresh and is an ideal summer perfume (specially in a hot and humid country like Dubai ! ). I found myself reaching for this more than my regular summer fragrance – Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lotus (the scents are a bit similar).
The range contains – a body wash, body lotion, body butter and a body mist so the fragrance can be layered to your hearts content !
The 50ml bottle of Italian Summer Fig costs £18.
Thank you so much for reading and have a lovely Thursday !
