Back to school – The Max Factor Makeup Academy re-launch

The two newly launched products from Max Factor – Creme Puff Blush and Colour Intensifying Lip Balm

Born during the golden age of Hollywood, Max Factor has been coming up with innovative beauty products for the past 100 years ! So it’s pretty safe to assume that they know pretty much everything there is to know about makeup.

So combining all their expertise Max Factor has launched their very own makeup academy, located in Capital D Studio in Al Quoz (Dubai).  The official launch of the academy was last week and I was invited to the event.

While it may look like just another warehouse from the outside, the inside of the Capital D studio is vastly different. Furnished with a very comfy couch, clothing racks and small nick-knacks with beautiful charcoal drawing in one wall – the space almost feels like some hip studio apartment.

I arrived a little early to the event so I had time to walk around a bit and chat with a few bloggers and media personal. I was quite star struck when I met the gorgeous Samira Olfat – the regional makeup artist for Max Factor and the academy’s tutor and managing partner.

After some time, we were ushered to the space where the classes are held, a chic room with cool white washed walls and two rows of lighted makeup mirrors. And on the counters were rows and rows upon Max Factor makeup (my kind of heaven). A brief introduction was given about the academy by Samira Olfat and then she did a quick makeup demo highlighting two new products from Max Factor – the Creme Puff Blush and the Colour Intensifying Lip balm.

Watching Samira at work was quite an experience ! She’s an absolute genius in her craft and it took her only a few minutes to create a beautiful day & night look on her two models. After the demo we were asked to try out the makeup displayed on the counters and boy did everyone go a bit nuts :). I was like a kid in a candy shop, trying out everything I could see !

In between the makeup madness, I met Nikki, a gorgeous student from the academy  (and a fellow Sri Lankan). I chatted with her about the course and she said her experience so far has been pretty amazing. Going by how natural and pretty her makeup was I have to say Samira must be a pretty good teacher !

I loved what we got in the media kit – the Creme Puff Blush and the Colour Intensifying Lip balm. I will do a separate review on both of them in a later post.
