I do not have a loving relationship with foundation because my acne scarred cheeks are very hard to cover up. Be it drugstore or high end, foundation always end up sinking in to the pitted scars of my cheeks. I used to be so self conscious about my scars but now I have grown to accept them and the fact that they are going to be there forever. And now I am happy to just slap on some BB cream and not think about my face for the rest of the day. So even though I am in search of that reclusive foundation that will make all my scars disappear, I am happy with any foundation that can stay put on my oily face.
When I when I first heard of the Max Factor 3 in 1 foundation (also known as Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation) it sounded too good to be true and more like marketing hype. And at 99AED it’s quite expensive for a drugstore foundation. But I read so many positive reviews about this, it made me want to give this a try.
One of the best things about Max Factor foundations is their shade range, and I could find a shade that matched my yellow toned skin perfectly (Crystal Beige-33).
The foundation is very watery compared to most liquid foundations I’ve tried (Revlon Colorstay, Rimmel Lasting Finish etc) and it’s best to give it a shake before using it. But don’t be fooled by it’s thin texture. There’s a slight sunscreen scent (the foundation offers SPF 20 ).
This foundation offers medium to full coverage depending on the way it’s applied. I prefer to use either the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush or their Miracle Complexion Sponge. I can layer it on over the areas that need more coverage without it becoming cakey.
The foundation goes on very smooth and offers enough coverage to make my acne scars not so noticeable. But it might highlight any dry patches so it’s best to use an exfoliating scrub or face wash beforehand and moisturize afterwards. I follow up with a light oil-free sunscreen ( Bioderma Photoderm MAX Herbaline essentials sunscreen )
The foundation wore well, even with the extreme heat and humidity in Dubai (it’s the height of summer here !). By the end of the day my skin did get oily but I did not mind that at all (any foundation that offers the coverage this does is a winner for me!). I am not a big fan of face primers (most of them make my face very greasy), so I am glad this allows me to skip it.
I love the way this foundation makes me look and it has become one of my favorites. If you are a fan of Revlon Colorstay, I would suggest to give this a try. The texture is lighter and it offers much better sun protection without that strange chemical smell Colorstay has.
I would love to know what your favorite full coverage foundations are so please do leave a comment.
Thank you so much for reading and have a great weekend !

This (and by this, I mean the CoverGirl version) is my favourite drugstore foundation. Very impressive formula and I love the pump bottle too! I like to apply mine with a beauty blender type sponge – it gives a more sheer coverage. Great review. 🙂

Thank you so much ! I use my RT sponge for spot coverage. The foundation is great no matter what I use to apply it though ! I hope they’ll introduce the new Stay Luminous version here. Have you tried that one ?

You should give it a go. And the coverage is almost the same. I know some people follow up with the Max Factor CC sticks for more coverage but I haven’t tried them yet. They are on my next buy to list..

I will try. The front camera (I only use my phone) is very kind on my scars and they show up very light so there won’t be a big difference..
